History

Gardei was founded in 1925 by Eugene Gardei.  Shortly thereafter, Mr. Gardei was approached by Carborundum to manufacture and print die cut blotters and labels for abrasive grinding wheels.  Being recognized as a primary supplier for Carborundum quickly led to Gardei becoming the preeminent supplier of grinding wheel blotters and grinding wheel labels for the abrasives industry.

In 1983, Gardei acquired F.K. Williams, a Massachusetts based competitor, who had been in business since 1878 and consolidated operations in the North Tonawanda, New York facility.  This acquisition resulted in Gardei now being the oldest supplier of die cut grinding wheel blotters and grinding wheel labels in the United States.   Though the abrasives industry was the primary and continues to be a major part of the Gardei product line, Gardei also began manufacturing other die cut products, both printed and non-printed, including technical test labels, child craft products and fragrance filters.

In January of 2005, Gardei Incorporated became Gardei Industries, LLC and continues to operate from our North Tonawanda facility.
